JULIE SMITH
(Coach Pitch) (Ages 8 & Under):
• This Division will combine the teaching of fundamentals,
stressing FUN along with teamwork.
• It will start out with coach-pitch and advance to girls
pitching, as appropriate.
• The placement of players will be determined by a 1-day
evaluation process.
• Any parent wishing to have their child tryout for play
in the 10 & Under division must notify
the league in writing prior to evaluation day. The league’s
decision will be final.
• There will be a Softball clinic conducted by the West
Genesee Varsity & JV Ladies Softball program
- - date and time to be determined. It is highly encouraged that
all participants attend.
• There will be two games per week and possibly one practice
per week, if fields are available.
• The season runs from the beginning of April through late
June with an approximate 16-game schedule.
Evaluation Day is Saturday March 28, 2009 from 3:30 – 4:30
pm at Shove Park FEE $45
MARGIE
WRIGHT (Fast Pitch) (Ages 10 & Under)
• Two games per week with continued emphasis on fundamentals
and teamwork.
• The team placement of players will be determined by a
1-day evaluation and
draft process.Coaches will evaluate the kids with a rating system
for draft
purposes only, to try and form relatively even teams.
• Any parent wishing to have their child tryout for play
in the 12 & Under division must
notify the league in writing prior to evaluation. The league’s
decision will be final.
• There will be a Softball clinic conducted by the West
Genesee Varsity & JV Ladies Softball program
date and time to be determined. It is highly encouraged that all
participants attend.
• The season runs from the beginning of April through late
June with an approximate 12-game schedule.
• All-Star Tournament winners could progress to State, Regional,
and World Series of Softball. The State Tournament will be held
in July.
• Full softball rules apply (with some house rules).
• Paid umpires (high school softball and baseball players)
used in games.

DOT RICHARDSON (Fast Pitch) (Ages
12 & Under):
• Two games per week with continued emphasis on fundamentals,
teamwork, and competitive play.
• The team placement of players will be determined by a
1-day evaluation and draft process. Coaches will
evaluate the kids with a rating system for draft purposes only,

in the 16 & Under division must

LISA FERNANDEZ (Fast Pitch) (Ages 16 & Under)
• The team placement of players will be determined by a
1-day draft process.
The League’s decision will be final.
• The season runs from the end of May through early July
with an approximate 12-game schedule.
• End of season All Star team play, if possible. All-Star
Tournament winners could progress to
State, Regional, and World Series of Softball. The State Tournament
will be held in July.
• Full ASA softball rules apply (with some house rules).
• Games will be umpired by ASA umpires.

Baseball
ROOKIE LEAGUE (Ages 7 9):
• Two levels of competition (Rookie Minors 7/8, Rookie Majors
8/9)
• The Minors teaching fundamentals and team work, while
the Majors
division focusing on those while being slightly more competitive.
• Both leagues play two games per week.
• Placement of players will be determined by a 1-day draft
process.
All 8- and 9-year-old players not previously on a rookie major
team must attend tryout.
• NO DRAFT for 7-year-old players. They will be automatically
assigned to a team.
• Season runs from beginning of April through late June
with approximate 13 15 game schedule.
• There will be a baseball clinic conducted by the WG Varsity
Baseball program
date and time to be determined. It is highly encouraged that all
participants attend.
Evaluation day is Saturday March 28, 2009 from 1:00 – 3:00
pm at Shove Park. FEE $45
- Players will be called prior to evaluations for time to report.
CAL RIPKEN LEAGUE (Ages 10 12):
• Two levels of competition (National & American) with
the National Division being slightly more competitive.
• Two games per week with continued emphasis on fundamentals.
• Division placement of players determined by 1-day draft
process.
All 10-year-old players will be placed into the American League.
• Season runs from beginning of April through late June
with approximate 13 15 game schedule.
• End of season All Star team play at both levels.
Tournament winner could progress to State and National play.
• A mid-season tournament for all players.
• There will be a baseball clinic conducted by the WG Varsity
Baseball program
date and time to be determined. It is highly encouraged that all
participants attend.
• Paid umpires to be used in games.
Evaluation day is Saturday March 28, 2009 from 9:30 – 11:00
am at Shove Park. FEE $75
- New players and last year’s American league players will
be called prior to evaluations for time to report.
BABE RUTH LEAGUE (Ages 13 15):
• House league made up of approximately 6 to 8 teams.
• Full baseball rules with High School professional umpires.
• Approximate 12 15 game schedule with play offs.
• Post season All Star teams (Three teams: Age 13, Age 14
& Age 13 15).
All star play in area Tournament (Valley, North Syracuse, Auburn,
etc.).
Tournament winner could progress to State and National play.
• League starts in mid-June and runs through mid-August.
Evaluation day – To be announced. FEE $120 (no candy to
be sold in this league)
GREATER SYRACUSE BASEBALL (GSBA)
TRAVEL TEAM (Ages 18 & Under):
• Playing competitive travel teams throughout the Syracuse
area.
• Team placement based on tryout/cut process, if necessary.
• Approximate 17 game schedule, with season running mid
June through July.
• Local games played and post season playoffs.
Tryouts day – To be announced. FEE $150
** Fall Baseball and Hitting League Applications will be available
in early June **
